Emma & Andy

Emma & Andy’s stylish, south of France influenced wedding in Richmond, London

Emma and Andy married last month at the very stylish Richmond Hill Hotel, in the heart of Richmond, just moments from Richmond Park where we photographed their engagement shoot last Autumn. (That’s another blog post!) Their wedding took place on one of the hottest days of the year, which was very fitting given that they got engaged in the South of France! We were really looking forward to their wedding; we’d got to know Emma and Andy a bit before the wedding and we were so excited to see all their ideas come together on the day. The flowers, created by Juliet Bell at The Flower Pocket, were simply stunning, she’d encapsulated the south of France in Emma’s bouquet with it’s lavender, eucylyptus and sunflowers – the fragrance was amazing. Emma’s elegant hair styling was by the fabulous Theresa Weller Hair Art, with flawless make up by Kelly Scrudato. Kevin met with Andy and his groomsmen before the ceremony to document their last minute preparations. Their blue suits looked fanatstic, by Youngsters Hire from Debenhams.  I joined Emma and her bridal party for their preparations.  Emma looked stunning in her Maggie Sottero dress, with the bridesmaids wearing dresses by Victoria Lou Bridal.

The ceremony took place in the wonderfully atmospheric and intimate Oak Room, and with Emma’s best friend Rachel playing the flute and readings from family and friends, it was a very moving occasion. We then headed outside into the sunshine to photograph the whole wedding party and for confetti to be thrown. Whilst guests headed inside the hotel for champagne and canapes, we took the opportunity to steal a few moments away from the wedding party for the first session of couple photos. We usually suggest that we have two sessions with the bride and groom for their photos, first of all when they are just married as it’s wonderful to capture the emotion and smiles on their faces as it all starts to sink in, and then later on after dinner, when the light is often lovely. Our couples tell us they love that time away from everyone, it’s a bit of a breather in what can feel like a fairly packed day. We took a few photos opposite the hotel and then along the lovely shady terrace with it’s views of Twickenham and the Thames, before heading back in for us to take some candid shots and photograph the wedding breakfast room,  and to allow the bride and groom to catch up with everyone and drink some champagne. After some group shots overlooking the Thames Valley, it was time for the wedding breakfast, but before that Emma & Andy had some time in the magnificent Ballroom to admire the set up and all the little details they had created. After dinner and some great speeches, we headed out again into the golden evening light for some relaxed couple shots, the light was wonderful. Finally it was time for the cutting of the cake, which was a stunning three tier ivory cake dressed with flowers, created by Emma’s very talented Mum.  And then to the first dance, a beautiful end to such a perfect day, time for us to head off home and the night to continue……
